You guys ever heard of the product "Rescue Tape"?
http://www.rescuetape.com/
It's some sort of stretchy rubber that is like super strong, sealing, electrical tape. May be the perfect MacGuyver item. Somewhere they suggest it could be used as a temporary accessory v-belt, like in case your alternator belt breaks!

Was out deer hunting one year and when we came back to the truck there was antifreeze all over the ground. Found that a round from a 30/30 was lodged in the radiator. Must have been at the end of its travel cause it didn't go all the way thru. What we did was add water from a nearby stream until the water coming out the hole was getting hot. Then we crumbled up some horse droppings and kept adding it to the radiator until the leak came to a stop. Made it 60 miles back and only lost a little water. The oats in the droppings held pretty well. It was the only time my truck ran like a turd.

I had a flex link on my exhaust fail once on some forever long and a day dirt road in Utah. So, we scoured around an old corral until we found an ancient rusted can. Bingo!!
Just this weekend I realized a few of my front leaves had snapped:
Still had to get the 150 miles home, so made due with some True Value materials and a slower than normal trip on the backroads back to Scottsdale:
Whatever works.

we were up above salmon la sac at the top of the w301 [about as high as you can get around here 6000+ft] and blew out a radiator hose. probably 3-4" long hole. we had maybe 14"s duct tape, ie not enough. we ended up taking off the gas filler, cutting some donut shims out of the rad hose as the gas filler was about an inch larger inside. held up fine wheeling our way home for 100miles....
