Here's the deal, that cheap price is for a urethane paint. That's a one stage paint job. You have a base/clear coat on there now which is a lot more durable.
If you need to prevent rust and don't have the equipment go for it. If you have the time and patience, paint it yourself with a base/clear. You need a booth with clean circulated air. You can make one or rent one.
If the prep work is done well and you live where you don't have a lot of sun like in the south west one of these paint jobs could last longer than you might own your truck.
A factory quality paint job as mentioned is in and around $5k for comparison.

Stagger Lee tagged it best. I've seen numerous posts on this site where guys were bragging on their rattle can jobs. I say go with what you can afford and don't worry about the critics.
