It looks as if it has been broken for a while as all that rusty powder concentrated around that break is evidence of that. You may have bought it that way or maybe lent it out to a youngster who caught air but its not new.
A spring doesnt just break like that from age of fatigue.
Just my opinion.
Time for an upgrade? Any thoughts?

This is the downfall with add-a-leafs. For whatever reason, they decided do not make them full length, and it adds an extra pressure point in the middle of the springs flex point. Esentially, it acts like a lever and with enough pressure applied, it snaps.

and yea to all the peeps..... there was one leaf acctually aready broke before this and its the one with the rubber round thing on it.... that one is a factory one, and was broke for a long time....about 2 years it stayed broke, and the bottom leaf is an ad leaf.... it is acctaully held up right now by some coil springs my dad wielded to the axle a long timeago to keep from bottoming out. the frame never touches them unless it hits a real good bump.... but now that side leans on it..... without the spring i would prolly be screwed.... but i have another leaf spring from a junk truck that i plan to put on here soon.....
