Locker Qusetions

There's never a right answer to these type of threads...
But, my rig sees a bunch of pavement with a spooled rear and 37's. I've been running this setup for years and I would definitely do it again.
I'm running aYukon but here's a link for spools for under 100 bucks > http://www.durasolid.com/product-toyota-3-4.aspx
You don't have to reset the gear pattern - just crank the bearing adjusters in evenly and you should be good to go. Always crank these down tight to minimize gear deflection.
I also run an aussie up front and love it - works perfect and the '2 year unlimited tire size warranty' is also nice.

If it's anything like an Aussie or a Lockrite then the only issue is going to be learning to drive with it in the rear. They will lock and unlock with the application of the skinny pedal. Took me a while to learn how to not make the rear chirp or rock around corners, nothing you can't get used to although the "BANG" when it unlocks making tight turns in a parking garage makes folks jump. The ratchet noise is also fun for those that don't know whats back there.... can't tell you how many times I've been told I've got a CV joint about to go out in the back end.......

I didn't have to
I was a bit worried about it since technically I was replacing the carrier - but I turned in the adjusters evenly 1 turn at a time. I checked it with some make-shift gear pattern lube and it looked fine. Doesn't make noise and it hasn't broke yet - maybe I got lucky

From what I have read and seen you don't have to have the backlash reset with a lunchbox. Sometimes it's good to do while your in there. Depends on how much play you have I suppose. Youtube the install.
I didn't want to post his whole install but you can watch it here.

Yeah, i know lunchboxes go inside the original carrier so you aren't changing anything, but the spool replaces the carrier so technically i think you should be setting them up again to be within spec. Sounds to me like you got lucky Kaptain
