Locker Qusetions
Im lookin at Spartan, Lockright or even a Spool for the rear. Im lookin for a budget locker, its my DD.
Does anyone have some input or any opinion on what might be a good budget locker?

Dont have experience with Spartan, but a Lockrite in the rear should be fine. I had one in my '87 and it was a DD.
I think Spartan and Lockrite are the same design, fits inside carrier.

Lockright, aussie, spartan.. all the same design.
A spool will be crap for a DD and will tear up tires.
Not to mention, you'd have to have the gear pattern reset meaning paying someone to do it....

You run dual lockrites dont you scub? If so that totally changes my opinon because you wheel alot, and have some nice meats.
And i dont want to start a spool debate, but i have heard from many people that the wear isnt to bad, especially if you do mostly highway driving (like me), makes sense since you wouldnt be dragging a tire.

Aussie: $279
Spartan: $249
I think it might pay to shell out the extra $30, cuz Im tryin to stay under $300 for the rear.

Have not had an issue with the rear lockright for almost 2 years. And have not had an issue with the front for almost 1 year.
And yes. They do get plenty of use

Just to add fuel... I've got an Aussie in the rear on mine and have had no issues. It's been in two different vehicles and so far so good. The only thing you'll have to get used to with a lunchbox type locker is making sharp turns. Oh and sometimes in places like a parking garage they will unlock and lock back up with a loud BANG! Makes folks think you just busted something. *grin*
I've also got a Lockrite in the front and have no issues with it either. I'd say pick what you feel is right for you and go for it. If I had to recommend something I'd say grab the Aussie.

Spartan in the rear on mine, has been great and no issues. Went with it because I know that Yukon gear makes a good product and the pin design was beefier, not to mention the price was a little bit less than a Lock Right or Aussie.
