Got the heads back today. I need to go back and ask specifically how much he took off of them. He didnt say it was alot but he did say it wasnt a little. I'm thinking the block might need some help. Yall think I should worry about getting a thicker head gasket?

So I checked the block the only way I could. Thickest, straightest, heaviest, steel ruler I could find. I couldn't get the .006 feeler gauge through anywhere. Im guessing the block is ok.

Sooooo, off to go scotch brite it and throw them heads on. Cant think of anything else to do before torqueing the heads down other than turning to TDC????

OK, just had another idea (great), wonder if I should bolt the manifolds and crossover up to the heads and put them in the same way they came out?

So all the ratchet are getting set the other way and I'm breaking out possibly my favorite tool, the Snap-on torque wrench.

29ftlbs Seems a little low for exhaust mani... oh well... thats what it says in the FSM.

HAHAHA!!!! I feel the same way , I am in a little corner of yotatech nobody ever visits .
Dude just make sure you dont feel anything on the heads , use some laquer thinner on there also.

When you do the valve adjustments , if you need any shims let me know I have a few laying around and may have one you need .

I think I could ship one or two your way with a couple of stamps so no big deal.

How bad do you think I need to adjust them? I work at Toyota so I can probably get the shims no problem. Thanks for the offer though, stuff like that makes me more willing to help you in the future.

Anybody know what this thing is called? I dont believe ENGNBLDR sent me a gasket for it...

And look at this... You can see that the old gasket has some type of inner crush ring that the new one doesnt have. Should I worry?

ExManis are torqued to the heads, crossover is finger tight, heads are torqued to 33ftlbs. They still need to be turned the extra 180 degs.

Used a white-out pen to mark the head bolts before turning them their two 90 degree turns. Worked very well. (I think my macro setting is broke, its useless)

the first pic is of the #1 water By pass pipe you seal it with FIPG and torque the nuts 6.9 N-m (61 in.-lbf) and the bolt to 4.9 N-m (43in.-lbf).
And I did not know you worked at toyota , I guess that makes a difference when Needing parts.

Thank you very much for that explanation.

It does help especially if I need to ask the mechanics about something. But parts are still expensive even with the discout. haha

What are these things the injectors sit in? Can I clean them off and re-use them? I think Toyota wants about 6 bucks a peice for them.
