For the life of me, I can't find the inclometer wiring harness

89 4Runner and I am finally getting around to hooking up the inclometer (or however you spell it). My truck is the stripped down model, so it originally came with no inclometer.

Where the heck is the harness? I've pulled the safety pad off and the air ducts out of the way and I still can't find the harness to plug it in. Is it even there?

Thanks.

Wish you had a pic of your inclinometer, it would help. The wires have nothing to do with running any of the gauges. They are all mechanical. The wires are for the lights in the gauges. You need to take the case apart and then you'll see where the wires are. there should be two them, one for power and one for ground.
If you have the Toyota gauges then you should have an on and off switch. You can wire it to any hot wire but I would use one that goes off or on with the key. I hooked mine to my air bag light. Mike

Sorry. I meant the wiring harness coming out of the vehicle. Thanks.

It may or may not be there. It is not horribly complex either, all of 2 wires need to be hooked up for the back light:

Go to Radio Shack and get a generic 2-pin Molex connector and hook it up.

I think I'm gonna try and hook it up with the cigarette lighter wire (so the display will be able to be controlled).

Thanks a lot.

How about installing it where the stock radio goes... My stock radio/cd player is pretty large. a after market c/d radio on bottum and the inclometer on top.

There's a connector behind the radio, jus above it.. Shaped like a T - Unplug it and the lights for the AC area go out... That's the normal place for the iclinometer to plug it. You can get at it by removing the glove box.

If you do a little bit of trimming, you can get the clino to fit into a stereo slot. It is slightly too wide to fit without trimming off a little bit of either the elevation or the front-back angle.
Edit: This is an estimate based on me having my clino apart trying to figure out how to place it in my 2nd gen 4runner.

I found my plug hanging down behind the cd player on the right side.
