Knock Sensor not hooked up
You folks were real helpful with my idle problem after replacing the head on my 22re. Sooo; My 89 Runner runs fine, and I timed it according to the procedure, but my knock sensor wire came loose. It actually came out of the connector, which is still on the sensor. I do intend to fix it, I just can't get my hand in there. I'll either find someone with small hands or find some way to fix it. Problem is, I burned my arm and cut myself trying to work on it.
I test drove the 4Runner and it runs great, although the check engine light is on.
The question is, will it hurt to drive it until I can get that wire hooked back up? Thanks

No. You will hear if it is pinging. Only very heavy pinging, as far as I know, can damage an engine. In other words, if you get no pinging, or light pinging, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks RDHARPER;
I quit messing with it for a couple hours, thought about it, then went back at it. I got the connector off the sensor with a pair of long pliers, then soldered a piece of wire to it. I crimp connected the original wire to that wire, snapped that connector back on, fired it back up and it was fixed. I also rechecked the timing, but it was fine.
I just don't have enough patience to deal with things like that. I love my 4Runner though.
