It's not really as much smoke as everyone makes it out to be and that's just the carbon deposits burning off which is why they say to do it outside or a very well ventilated garage.... I doubt you'd smoke up teh whole neighborhood, but I have seen it happen..
Once I finish what I'm doing on my yota I'm gonna give her a can.

Don't think I'm picking on you because I'm not. Not really anyway. I see people say that all the time. Just what do people think is in carbon anyway?

Yeah when I did it through the brake booster line, it blew white smoke for a few minutes at least, and then the white smoke cleared and it started giving off this rank blue smoke. I took it for a drive and it took about a mile or so of driving to get the blue smoke to stop and then everything was fine. I have a feeling that was the gunk/carbon.

I put it through the brake booster on my 22RE. It had a pretty new head and I had just rebuild it. If anything, the smoke came from the dirty intake manifold (I have since cleaned it by hand). I did not notice any improvement. I put some in the fuel as well. No improvement here either. I don't think that means Seafoam is useless, but instead my engine was clean.

i have used seafoam in 2 of my vehicles. the first one, shortly after all 4 injectors failed. i thought it was coincidence, so i tried it again on my '99 4runner, shortly after my headgasket failed. im not saying seafoam did infact cause this, im just saying i will never use seafoam ever again

ovrrdrive, it's just what I've heard over the last couple years. Friend of mine used it and it didn't smoke so I assumed a clean motor, thus no carbon to burn off.
alexe, you could've done it wrong?

I was told if you haven't used seafoam before on an older moter, it would be best to gradually introduce seafoam to the 4runner. Run it in the gas a few times, and then in time run it through the intake. B/C if not, those carbon buildups could just chunk off and lead to some problems, such as a need to change your plugs and your o2 sensors. It was suggested that I add two to three cans of it into half a tank and then drive w/it until I need to fill it up. Do this a few times and then add it to my intake. Crankcase.....hopefully regular oil changes prevent the need for me to do this.

wow i re-found this forum right on time, you gotta love google.
Seam foam works great, Ive used it on 6 cars but only through the brake booster vacuum line. The benefits from using it through the fuel tanks are very minimal from what Ive heard - the bottle actually says it too if I'm not mistaken.
I actually wasn't aware of it giving people better fuel economy I guess i never pad attention... Maybe thats just what my truck needs, at 16.3 mpg out of a 4 banger im sure it wont hurt.

I don't know why, but I have a funny feeling that the seafoam treatment had a helping hand in blowing my headgasket. I mean it MAY just be coincidence that it blew the next day... Maybe...

Sorry, i am really fogged up today. anyone got pics of the entry points on a 3.slowV6? I am due for an oil change in 600 miles, but want to try it in the gas and the brake booster. maybe the slow infusion technique is best, but I will try it and try the advance the timing trick to see if i get more power and MPG.
Thanks
Thanks
