Just replace cv axle, brake caliper bolt noise?

Like the title says I just replaced a bad cv axle, got done yesterday. Its still making the noise. Its like a "pop, pop, poop" when I am turning hard either way. haha, i thought for sure it was the bad axle (look at the pic)

Could this be the brake caliper bolt hitting the control arm?

BTW i work at a repair garage and when I was parking one day a tech heard it... When I got in the shop two techs asked me "What was that noise??" moral of the story: ITS LOUD!!

Clunk on sharp turn....really?.....I bet its your turn stops. Throw some grease on there and see if it still does it.

Oc..after a few beers, the picture is clear as a bell!

Thats what it was! thanks guys, i threw some wheel bearing grease on there and 90 % of the noise went away. I might have to fab up some rubber things to go on there since I hate the noise so much and grease isnt gonna last long.

And OC, I wasnt about to go out there and pick up that nasty thing again. haha sorry.

Another question for you guys: Since it wasnt the cv axle making all the noise do you think I could just throw a new boot on the old one for a backup (after a couple cans of brake cleaner to get rid of the old grease and dirt)

If you want to fight putting boots on it. Yes, it would make a good canidate for a spare for out on the trail. Make sure you clean it up really well before you put it back together.

85 toyman, do you know if 4runner rear bumpers are the same as truck rear bumpers for 92 trucks (2nd gen or 3rd gen?) The reason i ask you is cause your parting a couple out.

negative, ghost rider. The bumpers are not the same for either model to fit the truck in stock form. They wrap around to cover the side of the 4runners. If you go aftermarket like marlin or trailgear, I believe that they are univeral and fit both applications. Hope that helps.
