I read in another post that the guy put a rocker switch under the carpet next to the driver's door. I probably wouldn't put it there (since it's been posted on the internet several times now), but I think that under the carpet would be a good way to hide the switch.

If you dont have a killswitch installed yet, and you have efi, and are parking in a shady lookin area, just yank your AFM connector, engine wont run without it.. Mine doesnt have the little metal clip on it anymore so it just pulls right out, but thieves are lookin for a quick getaway, if your engine just continues to turn over, theyre gonna leave quick.. or if your battery cable is loose enough, yank it off, or pull your coil cable, lots of ways..

I remember my father telling me that at a local small corvette show long ago that a guy removed his coil wire as his kill. The theif used one of the 8 plug wires and drove away.

With our EFI there's a few ways to kill the system easily.

Relay or high Amp switch?

Ok, I'm going to install one but wondering what you guys think about Amp ratings. I have a 3A switch... not sure if I should try and do a relay (I am lost on that one, I would need a lot of help) or if there's a wire that carries little to no amps that won't damage the switch. Or, should I just get a 15A to 20A switch and call it good?

Edit: Nvm answered my own question. The fuel pump pulls too many amps and could risk melting, using a relay.

Find ground wire for coil of the the circuit opening relay and interrupt that with a mni toggle switch. It takes low current. Advantage is you can use a tiny switch. Use double-pole single throw. double-pole means 2 contacts opening and closing in parallel- adds reliability.

Example

100 pound pit in my seat keeps thieves away, that and my starter contacts are worn out so its a pain to start my truck anyways!

Thanks for the tip, I will do that. Was thinking of splicing the ignition wire but that's easier since it's closer. I understand volts and wattage, but amps have always confused me

That's the exact kind of switch I bought so that will work perfectly.

I run a Microsquirt standalone so I just unplug it and stick it my pocket. Engine will not run without it at all.

It didn't work. I isolated the white/black ground wire but had no effect. There must be a second ground along one of those wires or something. I even cut the wire and left it apart and the truck still fired up just fine.

Gonna run a relay instead and splice one of the ignition wires.

Now that he/she knows where the switch is because it is in plain sight, he/she can reach up behind the switch, yank off the wires and just twist them together. Not very effective.

it would be an ignorant assumption to say you could just reach up behind it & yank the wires..who would install it like that? 1st they have to get in the vehicle, discover the vehicle wont start being hot wired, somehow formulate in their mind that one of the 2 keyed switches on the bed box are preventing the vehicle from starting, break into the bed box, get through the electrical conduit, twist the wires together and then hot wire the truck.. all while the 130dB stebel air horn is going off

A few years ago with my old truck I was worried about leaving un-attended all day while we were floating the river all day. I just pulled the efi fuse, and relay and took them with me.
