injector troubles -help-
Just installed a cmplt. rebuilt 22 RE into my '90 Runner, now it won't start.
It turns over well, has good spark, pressure to the fuel rail, but will not fire.
Checked all the fuses to the ECU & EFI and all vacuum & electrical connections, they're good. Swapped/checked ECU, its good.
Problem: Spark plugs are dry after is the engine is turned over. I don't think the injectors are firing.
Anyone out there seen this before? Any ideas on where to look first?
Hopefully there's a wrench wizard out there like BruceTS for the 22RE who can help!
Thanks,

I did notice a very strong smell of fuel after trying to start it a couple of times tonight, leading me to believe it's not an injector problem but rather a timing issue. Maybe an out of time cam - the last thing I want to dig into.
Needless to say I'm starting to get frustrated.

Make sure all your intake tubing from the AFM is connected properly. The AFM must see air movement or no fuel. The next thing to check would be the pickup in the distributor. Without that pulse injectors will not fire.

It's easy to check your injectors, just get a test light and put it across the injector connections (one on each side). When turning over, you should see the light.
Timing is another possiblity. At TDC, cam dowl should be 11-12 o'clock.
The distributor should point at approximately #1 cylinder...
