Ignition Problem with 89 Toyota Pickup 3VZE
One day im driving along enjoying my truck and it starts to hiccup a little while driving and pretty much every day after that it began to get worse. It got so bad that it would barely even run and getting past 65 was impossible it was like hitting a wall that the engine wouldn’t allow to happen it would just miss out or stall so hard it was like hitting a speed bump. So I bought the Service manuals did a lot of research on YotaTech and found that it was most likely the Pickup Coil in the distributor well I tested the Pickup Coil and it was out of the limits. So I bought a new distributor put it in and it ran perfectly....... for about 7 months and then it started again and progressively got worse I checked the Pickup Coil and it was out of limits so I just bought another distributor this time one from Autozone and it lasted 2 days before it started to hiccup I tested the Pickup Coil and the ohms for all of the test points
G1- G- was 250
G2- G- was 253
NE- G- was 250
They're all supposed to be between 140-180 ohms and it’s not even close. So it’s eaten
3 pickup coils/distributors so to me there must be an underlying problem that’s destroying the pickup coil but I can’t find anything anywhere that talks about this so does anyone have an idea as to what it could be that’s destroying the pickup coil?

Aftermarket ignition and electronics suck on our trucks. You must use oem toyota or denso products if it's going to run right and last. There is a chance something could be wrong with the ignitor causing your problem. I would source a good used oem unit and try that first. Assuming this is a 3vze?
