IFS Steering Stabilizer
So, Heres the lowdown, I don't have a sway bar, And I'm gonna do some T-bar cranking to get 1.5" of lift outta the front, and throw a 6" TG shackle in the back, along with my 3" body lift, so I can run 35's... But Thats not what I'm asking here, my stock steering stabilizer is leaking fluid and I'm tired of the SOB leaking all over my driveway, it obviously doesn't do much as is, so would it be unsafe to just take the thing off? I don't want to replace it cause as soon as I break a CV I'm SAS'ing..

You might as well replace the damn thing. My 35's have yet to cause a blown cv and they've been abused. That's with a 1.5" bj spacer and another 1.5" t-bar crank. And if it keeps leaking that much I doubt the stabilizer had that much fluid, so something else is leaking I'd imagine.

lol, you can take it off but note that when offroad KEEP YOUR THUMBS OUT OF THE STEERING WHEEL cuz now you dont have a dampner to keep the steering wheel from doing a 180 in a snap

sure you can just remove it, but it's not very safe to drive without one
for measly $35, I'd just replace it man...

1000$ Actually... I got chevy 63's, stock rear springs, rebuilt 8" axle with 5.29's, and shocks, Just need to fab spring hangers and get my hysteer... I haven't spent a cent so far.. I got the front axle from my brother, everything else was free. Where are you getting $3000 from?

I dont think you understand. I have a 8" Axle READY to go in, that means LONGFIELDS, SPOOL, 5.29's... And I have a locked rear end.. and I've got a 5.29 's to go in the rear.. I've seen plenty of people SAS for under 1000 bucks really easy..

I would definitely replace it. Right now I have the original one on my truck, and it suck! Its like I dont have one on at all... its pretty much useless. When I go over bumps or pot holes i need to make sure my hands are on the wheel or else it will turn the wheel sharp in one direction or another. I need to replace mine bad. Its almost scary with what i have on there now.
Well now that i think of it, it also could be that my steering has 35 degrees of play (bad steering box) Oh well, as long as it drives forward and backwards I am cool with it.

Holy old thread Batman!!
So, I recently dropped my oil pan (Again)....and disconnected the stabilizer as part of my "get stuff out of the way to access the pan" moves.....when I bolted everything back up, I notice that, after driving the truck and parking it, the stabilizer seems to be leaking oil. I thought it was from the pan, but when I get down and check after parking each time, I don't see any fluid coming from the pan above - it's all drops forming around the "neck" of the stabilizer.
I'm cheap and don't want to go spend $50 on a new one.
Is this repairable with a gasket? Is this common (I'm thinking the stabilizer was used to one motion for years, and then I swung it out of the way,, twisted it, etc, which may have broken some seals?).
Just want a spot free driveway for a little while

I'm finding them for about $30 on Amazon (Monroe) so they are not that bad.
So, is it normal for this to happen (they are fine, then if turned, pulled, twisted like I did they finally go bad)?
