I dont change my oil...good or bad thing?
My 88 4runner 3.0 leaks about 1 qt/ 2-3weeks. I put a ton of mile on it!
I just keep topping it off with my mobil 1 synthetic, and I replace the oil filter about every 10k miles....thoughts??

Well 1st off, I would look into getting that leak fixed. with a 3.0, I would still change it every 5K if I were you. Also might want to go to dino oil as syth may be making you leak more the it has to.

just dont go hardcore with heavy oil. i tried 30w, and for awhile it was good, wasnt burning or anything. but it started affecting my truck, it was getting horrible gas mileage, i could hear rattling in the engine like, really bad. when i heard that i immediatly changed oil to 20w-50. no problems. except that kragen(checker) gave me the wrong PCV valve and im burning oil like crazy. friggin checker! im gonna have to go to the stealership anyway... (thermostat)

yeah, i posted a thing on here about changing my oil over to synthetic. apparently, many people have had more leakage when doing this...
yeah, listen to them, switch back to dino juice man, try 20w50 that is what i use and i get some leakage, but not that much... and its better on the freeway.
try it.

weekly top up of 10w30 synth isn't going to hurt anything. At 10k, I'd drain the pan at the same time the filter is done.
Changing front seals is pretty simple, and if your t-belt is getting soaked in oil, it's gonna fail. When it does, tow it home, and do it all: t-belt, waterpump, bearings, and 3 front seals. That should reduce your oil leakage, as the only other seal is the rear main, then the v/c and oilpan gaskets of course...

Draining my pan every 10k would constitute an oil change Though I did give thought to what would happen if I never drained the pan...
I may switch to a different oil if I get around to it, but again that would constitute an oil change. I do a slick 50 every once in a while, so maybe ill switch to a cheap to penzoil cheap dino oil.
My leak is likely valve covers its not the front seals. I know that for sure.
I know a syn will make an existing leak leak more.
I run a thinner oil bc I live in chicago, not california.

Why wouldn't you fix the leak. Ive seen guys run the beaches of NJ with Oil leaks it drives me crazy. I just don't get it anymore, nobody cares. No one says please, thank you, excuse me, what the heck is up. People throw trash out their windows. You should fix the leak just to make me feel better.

I ran a 83 Honda civic for 4 years without ever changing the oil and only changing the filter 2 times,
I just added oil ever week and I put over 50k miles on it sold it to some one else and they had it for 8 more years before they got something else.
my ford I did the same I would just add more oil every week with it I kind of wanted to see if the motor would mess up but it did not.
but both of those vehicles I did not care for with my Toyota's I try to change the oil at least every 4k. I hate seeing dark sooty oil on the dipstick.
