Haha very funny. Who decided aspestos is bad for you? so is splenda but all dinners still have it on the tables. Think I should have the gaskets done to save the moter or just run it and shut it off as soon as I see white smoke out the tail pipe? Any body know if my gasket is gonna last? Any way to find out if it's been done outside of a dealership?

183,000 and the engine blew. Needed new rod, 20thou over sized due to scored walls. new pistons, gaskets, oil pump, heads decked, block decked, cleaned out the oil cooler on the side of the block, what a job that was. but she runs fine now and if i get that long out of her again i will be a happy man. cost me a grand to have the work done and parts supplied by napa. bought the good head gaskets for 100 bucks so hopefully all will be well. since the engine rebuild i have done the temp sensor at the back of the motor and replaced the starter motor, coil, plugs wires rotor cap... new tiing belt and water pump were done with the engine... hopefully now all will be well for some time.. oh i forgot had to do the power steering pump as well and also the front suspension bushings due to the power steering fluid eating the rubber.

Mine has a little over 180k... HG recall was done in 2002 at 157k. I bought it with 172k last year. 15k on the truck in 7 years... makes me think it did a lot of sitting... and just generally going to hell Did some engine work, replaced the tranny, complete suspension overhaul, a bunch of electrical bugs, etc. Still got a few little bugs here and there, but overall a good truck.
My boss has an 89 I just replaced the engine in. It made it a little over 240k (I think... somewhere around there) until he... um... we'll say 'mis judged' a small body of water. When I pulled his airbox off, and intake tubes I dumped a LOT of water into the trash can... Bent 3 rods BAD, and it looked like the other 3 were slightly tweaked. Put in a reman engine from LKQ and it runs great. Ready for another 240k (barring bodies of water....)

Mine had 153000 when it spun a rod bearing. I only put about 3000 of those mile on it so i have no history of how the motor was maintained.
Replaced with a 3.4V6 from a 97 Runner and wouldnt have it any other way. In retrospect, I am almost happy that I spun that bearing and was "forced" to do the swap because it would have been hard to take out a running motor and swap with the cost involved.

Mine has 210k miles. HG was done @ 200k. Harmonic balancer was done @205k. Still runs strong, but gas mileage has gone down to 13mpg, but I'm running 305x70x16 on the runner with body lifts.

'90 pickup with 199300, still running strong, engine is pretty quite compared to all other 3.slow's that i've seen. Valves are doing good i guess. Head gasket recall was already done before i bought the truck, I think around 160k.

I have 205,554 on mine as of today and it is running like a dream. Everything works as it should, it feels brand new. I don't believe the hg has been done though.

I'm close to getting 219k on the old beast. I recently did the timing belt (this site was a tramendous help, btw) and it's running better than it did before. Can't wait to throw some new shocks and exhaust on it before summer hits!
