HG at 70k ?? ouch! Anyone want to buy my 3vz with 160k on it when I do my 3.4 swap??

I'm pushing 303,000 miles on my 3.0.

BUT

That may not count, I do not know if they are all on one engine.

I have about 198,000 and seems to run strong just switched to an electic fan what a way to improve power and mpgs im now seeing 25 mpg and i clime the teton pass from idaho to wyoming daily it has 10 %grades and she will pull it in third now and runs great now I have had my share of small stuff and maintnence and a few oil leaks

Had 304,200 miles on my 1990 SR5 5-speed last week........I finally changed the instrument cluster to one I bought off of E-bay from a seller back east so the speedometer will work....it had 167,460 on it......so does that mean I can start over....lol.

Had 304,200 miles on my 1990 SR5 5-speed last week........I finally changed the instrument cluster to one I bought off of E-bay from a seller back east so the speedometer will work....it had 167,460 on it......so does that mean I can start over....lol. replaced the entire front of engine...water pump...fan clutch/assy, fan, shroud, radiator, timeing belts, belts and hoses....but never been into the engine itself...thanks to amsoil and preventive maintenance.

I've got about 240,000mi right on my untouched 3.0, pushing 37" tires... I have to add coolant/oil about once a month though.

Okay, my 1988 4Runner 3.0, manual just turned over 318,000. Timing belt done at 280,000 and head gasket at 120,000. Currently has good compression but a leak at the rear main seal. Makes the drive from Seattle to Portland every weekend without complaining and averages 18 mpg. Still a good daily driver.

A friend of mine has a '94 pickup with 364,000 on it. No rebuild, not sure about head gaskets. The thing runs great.

Mines an 88 pickup, head gasket done at 185k, and now its at 331,000. two timing belts, and a quart of oil every 30 days.

I got 138,900 on mine, and attempting to do valve gaskets this weekend. After reading this thread though, I guess I should start saving up for new HG. FML.

My 91 4Runner has 348,000kms on it which is roughly about 217,00 miles. Head Gaskets not even touched.

256,000 on my 3.0. I'm the second owner and have maintained it very well, and the first owner (up to 142k) was an old retired cop. Despite regular maintenance (and 142k easy miles), I rail the ˟˟˟˟˟ out of my 3.0 and have never had a problem. Head gasket was done in '99 under the service campain.

Oh, and it burns about about 8 ounces of oil every 3000 miles. Never rebuilt. Whoop whoop.

1993 SR5 truck HG done at 100K. Still going at 319,000 just rev it like a 4cyl.

i'll prolly be moving out of state sometime within a couple of years to go to a different college.


i WANT to take my '92 4runner...but i can only take one vehicle.


i don't want to get up there...then have some major problem which i can't fix and not be able to get to work or school.....

with that being said i'm enjoying all the amazing high mileage posts.

my engine has like 164K on it..just rebuilt it..waiting to go back into the engine bay!

i'm hooping i never have to go into the motor again. (until i 3.4 swap it)

'89 has 210k.
PO kept very detailed maintenance records, and I can't find anything about replacing the head gasket. I've put on the last 30k miles and still going strong.

I'll chime in... 178,xxx miles on my 95 3vze. I've only had it for 10k without problems, but looking at the paper work from the previous owner a few minor things were fixed, most notably an oil leak. Eats a good amount of oil, has a valve ticking (maybe injectors), chugs a bit while at idle sometimes, and is very underpowered.... otherwise it's been taken care of well by me. Looks like I dodged the HG problem. However, I'm still nearing the point where I'll need to replace even the good one.... Dun dun dun...
