The roll bar saved me from anything worse happening to the truck and me, most of all. Here is something I did at the end of the day after I got the truck finally prepped to remove the cab. My dad said he didn't want the yard looking crappy while we are on vacation, so I laid the fender back on and fixed the bumpers like so:
Hopefully the yotamonster will protect the old parts that I need! Progress will start right back up after vacation. Hopefully I can get the cab fully prepped and wired up the day after I get back so we can set it on and get her lookin good again!

Well, the 2wd cab is fully prepped and ready to be yanked off of the frame. Now I need to prep the 4wd cab to be removed and hopefully within the next couple of days have all the people I need to get the cabs off and switched. Then I should be able to have it at least running.

Well, both cabs are ready to be swapped. All I lack is cutting the hole for the transfer case stick and drilling holes for the power steering pump in the 2wd cab. Hopefully I can get a friends dad to come over with his track hoe and yank both cabs tomorrow. Then I can start the long process of putting everything back together!

Well, it should all be uphill from here......hopefully. Both cabs have been swapped. The rolled one is on the 2wd chassis, and the 2wd cab is on the 4wd chassis. Sorry, no pics taken as everyone we had was helping lift. Pretty much only had to disconnect one or two things while lifting. But as long as everything goes as planned, I should be able to have the truck at least running in a couple of days. Oh, and I am going to use the 2wd's wiring if possible. Do I really need the clutch start/cancel switch? I don't really know what it's for besides being able to start the engine without depressing the clutch. I have yet to come across a situation where I have to do that. Please, someone enlighten me!

I'll be doing a cab swap in 10 days... Im not actually swapping cabs tho, im just moving mine to another frame. So its really a frame swap =P
Overall should be just labor intensive, not technical but anything can go wrong and usually does LOL..
Unfortuanetly I dont have a rolling chassis to move it to, as of now the plan is to remove the motor, bed, disconnect the cab from chassis (Wiring, brakes, etc)... support the cab one some kind of stands or whatever I come up with at the time.. roll the chassis out ... Dismantle it, swap what i need off of it to the new chassis... Cut the old chassis up, get it out of the way, roll in the new chassis and bolt everything back on, put the motor back in and be done.
all the mods I needed to do to the truck are now complete so it will be a straight forward unbolt, bolt operation pretty much.
Ill be replacing the exhaust gaskets since thats the only part that has to be removed that uses gaskets.
I figure with the knowledge I've acquired from doing everything I've done to this rig I shouldnt hit any snags that are to bad. I've done the body lift, I've redone the clutch, its hydraulics, all the brakes ... I've unbolted and redone everything except remove the motor. Not sure what would be left attaching cab to chassis that I havent removed and replaced.

well, the only thing that surprised me is a couple of things attached to the firewall behind the engine when the cab was being pulled...I disconnected them and discovered they had been bent after the 2wd cab was put on. I did have to cut a hole for the transfer case shifter, and drill holes for the power steering fluid holder, but my only problem as of now is I am just trying to figure out how everything goes back on! Really all the advice I have is just double check EVERYTHING I also used a combo of labeled plastic bags to put hardware in, and putting everything back in the original holes. As long as you take pictures of connections-I did a 360 view of the engine so I have a reference of where everything goes. I expect to have everything back to normal by wednesday, but hope to have it done tomorrow! I guess if you have any questions I'll do my best to help. Oh, and thanks for the link!

ha mine looks the same way after i rolled it! but i had an int. roll cage. if you look closely at the driver side bar of the roll cage you can see where it actually bent it alittle cause of the chipped paint.

Yeah, my roll bar bent a bit, and the paint chipped on the inside and out on both sides. I just need some insight on how these brake lines and wiring go. I took some pics but they only help a little. I wish someone was closer to me that knew these trucks well enough! But I should figure it out - even if it does take me a couple of days!
