I am stuck with the 22r(e) or the 3.slow in the 7100/7. Since this chassis didnt come with the 3.4. Although I might be mistaken but I think there might be a class for the 4cyls seperate from the 7 class. Unless i just run sportsman and don't compete. Then its a 351 SB stroked to a 427 for me hehe. Yes it can be done. http://www.mustangandfords.com/techa...kit/index.html
someday, it will happen, some day

that 351 to 427 has been in my mind for a while now since when I had the 85 bronco with a 351 HO motor in it. Would you believe i had that and the 83 bronco ii at the same time and the full size motor never ended up in the baby bronco? nor did the 44 front or the 9" rear. Wish I had that full size now, the woulda been a sweet swap, the 9" rear and 44 IFS front swap into the yota woohoo. hehe

besides, I think 400hp NA LS1 would be plenty; no need to push it
if I wanted to go absolutely crazy, I'd throw in an injected 572 that would take EXTENSIVE modification to make fit though, lmao

nice thread hijack...
if you want cams, i only know of 2 companies that make grinds for the 3VZ...
johnny at sea2skytuning, which i think isnt in business anymore, and Justin Crower at Crower racing...
IIRC, the Crower cams are 100 bucks a piece for a regrind... the S2S cams were a considerable amount more, but had a much better quality...

SOHC, single-over-head-cam is technically what you are
... and ...
DOHC- dual (two) over-head-cams... you are not.
... I'm just sayin'....

Yes, Abe, I know what "dual" means. just for my clarification..... you are saying that a v6 that is DOHC has 4 cams?? Wouldn't that be Quadruple overhead cams? forgive me if I sound dumb, but that honestly doesn't make sense at all.

sorry about the thread jack. I still didn't understand what you meant, Wes, so I googled it. Wikipedia says that there are 2 camshafts per engine head, one operating the inlet valves, and one operating the exhaust valves. So, technically speaking, engines classified as DOHC do have 4 camshafts, but still are classified as DOHC, because there are 2 camshafts operating one engine head. Just thought I would put that out there for those that are curious like me, and seem to be unable to find an answer. (P.S. I realize that i basically restated what you both already said, but sometimes the short explanations are harder to understand)

Dual Over-Head Cam
Over-Heam being the key word(s)
An engine is classified as SOHC or DOHC depending on how many cam shafts are above the cylinder head, or cylinder heads.
Any number of cylinder engine is capable of being a SOHC or DOHC; there are SOHC 4 cylinders (like 22R engines), and then there are DOHC 4 cylinders (like the later 2RZ-FE). Receptively, V6 and V8 motors are capable of being SOHC engines or DOHC engines.
The only denomination between SOHC and DOHC is the number of cams above the cylinder head(s); that's as simple as it gets.

I get that now, I was under the assumption before that over-head meant that the camshaft was above the block, as opposed to otherwise. all is clear now though.

4 cam v8 anyone?
or maybe the older one basically 2 4cyl motors in a v pattern.
Too much for ya? how about a TDC 6 cyl

I was just trying to be funny with the ZOHC thing. There are definitely push rods so there are no cams over the heads. Could be 2 cams in the block, it's hard to tell from that photo. I am not familiar with that engine.
