Help me sell the M/T to my chick...

I really want to get rid of the 3.0 and get the 22RE and then go M/T.......how much do you think that kind of conversion will cost and what kind of mileage can I expect from a 22RE with M/T. Any help so that I can pass it on with "positive" results would be appreciated.

Kyle

Sell the truck, buy one with a 22RE and a 5spd.

There are too many variables.

Actual size of tire
gearing
type of driving--city/ highway
trail toy or DD
then price of different motor, computer, etc....

If you really want to keep your truck, go with the 3.4 swap.

As far as saying M/T's I assume you mean mud tires... just buy them when you get new tires. It's your truck right? My wife likes 35's over 33's just because they look like tires. That's one reason why I went to 35's

I think he's refering to a manual tranny MT as oppossed to a slush box AT.
selling points MT is more fun, better on gas, and less likely to get stolen [most folks don't know how to drive it]
but I also agree with the other posts it would be cheaper to sell and buy new [2u] rig.
with the 22re you also need different ratio diffs and wheels.
cheers aviator

Yeah when was the last time you saw a crackhead driving off in a toyota truck with a manual tranny?

Yup, no point in converting to a 22re, at least go up to a 2.7L I4 if not a 3.4L V6. Otherwise, sell the truck and buy one with a 22re and manual tranny.

Deffinately your best bet, unless you have a lot already invested in the current truck.

Thanks for the advice all, I do appreciate the constructive criticism......I am curious about the overall cost of just a 22RE swap though.....I think I have an idea for the Manual/T.

Cheers

The cheapest way to do an engine swap is to find a donor car with all of the necessary parts (engine, ECU, etc...).

From there, everything else depends on the type of rig your building, and what you'll use it for.
