I went with a rebuild last year from JASPER. Did a ton of research in this area and they were rated very high. I have had NO problems at all. It runs like a champ. Great warranty.
Good luck.

I don't think I can afford all that head work. I know I can't afford headers. Any idea how much torque or hp a descent cam adds?

I hate to push the point, I understand local is important, but at the end of the day you want the best engine for the money spent. The sunwest reman has a cam, bigger valves, ported and polished. I would consider pitching the 3.slow for that little beast.

The little beast I was refering to was the built motor from sunwest. Looks like all the things I would do if I had the engine going down to block. the 3.slow is the 3vze.

easy way to port and polish your engine... hook up the intake to a bag of fine grit sand and keep the rpms at about 4500.... will do it just fine.
DISCLAIMER: i am not responsible if your engine DIES.
anyone remember that thread?

I paid less for a remanufactured short block (3 year warranty) and an ENGNBLDR.com StreetRV head...

Got my truck back today!!!

Man, it's cool how nice it runs. Before, I had to shift into 4th and floor it going over the river on the interstate. Now, I just leave it in 5th and barely give some more gas.
