If you don't mind waiting a bit, people are getting on a list for 25% discount on HID kits at The Retrofit Source!! We are over 1/2 way there - once 25 people are on the list TRS will release the discount code. Here's the link:

The exact pair I bought http://www.topgearautosport.com/part...onversion.html
Don't expect the halo's to last because the first and replacement pair only lasted 1 week. And they have mirrors to prevent blinding.

Then you should go to that site and get your name on that Group Buy list so you get subscribed to that post. Once 25 people are on the list they generate the discount code. Once the code gets generated people purchase pretty quickly and that code is only for 25 orders. 26th order misses-out.

I looked on retro fits website and it looks as if they don't offer an h4 setup bulb. And there charging around 150$ for a 35 watt kit. On retro solutions, the kits are 55 watt and they have great customer service. When my first set of bulbs died ( due to alternator undercharging and a loud stereo) they were quick with shipping me a set of 2 brand new bulbs. Also they have lifetime warranty and I paid around 175 for my kit and cannot wait to reinstall them. I had 55 watt 10k

Sittin stock

During the lift

And the halo's that died after a week on both sets, u have to set up a relay harness to make them work though

And as far as installing, u have to take the grill off and each headlight just needs 4 screws to remove, but u have to dremel the corner tabs of the conversions off to get them to fit correctly, and the whole harness is plug and play. Just make sure u have very good grounds. And adjust for courtesy because them 55 watts can blind VERY easily

And 12k are the ones that are off purple. The only reason my 10k's aren't drowned with blue is because their 55 watts and REDICUOUSLY BRIGHT

Mine are bi-xenon to the highbeams are beautiful. Almost like spot lights when they shine into the trees

There is so much fail going on in here.

To reiterate what some keen others have already stated:

1) plug and play HID kits are garbage. Please call me ahead of time so I make sure I'm nowhere near you.

2) I actually had a PnP kit, took it out, did a proper rewire with 12awg, some Bosch relays, and a diode to make dual beams, and my halogens in (semi-decent) quality Hella E-code housings literally blow away any PnP HID kit you will get. I can guarantee I have both MORE light, a better cutoff (not blinding others) and that was before I got good Osram bulbs (no, not Sylvania, and yes they're different)

3) If you want HIDs, do it correctly, or don't waste your money. www.theretrofitsource.com has wicked setups. I personally favor the FXr units. They're bixenon, have a fantastic cutoff, are a 2.5" projector lens, have great spread, no super bright hot-spots, and the high beam function on them is REALLY good.

4) Lastly, if you're not going HID properly, then rewire your halogens and get GOOD bulbs in GOOD e-code housings. You'll be amazed how much more light you get.

The reason I didn't go with retrofits was because of the price but with the housings I had I had a pretty good cutoff line, wasn't as crisp as a projector but was good enough so I wasn't blinding people. And 55watt HID's are the brightest lights I've seen I don't kno if any halogens could outshine them. When I reinstall them I'll take a pic of the cut off line. And my lights were guaranteed with an 8 year warranty so even if they do fail I'm not worried about having to buy another pair. Only thing I didn't like was 14 gauge relay harness, they deffinetly could have stepped it up a bit

Here's my thought. That bright spot in the middle makes your eyes dilate. The moderately lit portion is then harder to see. A good beam should be fairily smooth throughout in my opinion.

What good is a buttload of light if you can't see any better? Maybe your high beams are better and that might make up for some of it?

How much did you spend on the setup you have now? I'm sorry to say, but 'good enough' is NOT good enough. Look at your swath of light. It's wickedly narrow. There are ridiculous hot spots. From what I can tell, you've got the lights pointed down so low that just the glare from those things is what's illuminating the road ahead of you.

I stand by my statement, if you're not going to do it right, then don't do it at all. Also, 14awg is PLENTY to power HIDs. You probably have digital ballasts anyway, which only draw about 3A at startup, but when HIDs are arcing, they draw significantly less than a halogen bulb.

Here are a few pics of my retrofitted lights (OEM Infiniti FX35 bixenon HID projectors that I modified, running OEM Matsu˟˟˟˟a ballasts, powered by my custom 14awg (plenty!) relay harness. This is in my M3, but the output would be identical out of H4 housings:

When I was test fitting the FX's:
20-25ft- this pic was taken just in summer, still light out at 8pm

This was the first 75ft (approximately) output shot I had. I actually got the cutoff significantly sharper after I re-spaced the lens, but don't have pics of that yet so this'll have to do!

I have never been able to get a pic good enough to give my lights justice due to my old crappy 2.0 mp iPhone camera. Here's a link to the set I boughthttp://www.retrosolutionsllc.com/ser...VERSION/Detail. Once I reinstall them I'll take a pic of the cutoff
