Got a new "toy" today...
Can you say Train Horn?
And no it's not for the mower.
Here's where I'd like to mount them to keep them out of the elements but I worry about heat from the exhaust manifold... It would be a simple bracket to fab to do it.
Realistically they'll probably end up under the truck on the passenger side rear floorboard. I'll just have to cover the bells if I do that.
Opinions?
Anyone mount a set of these on a yota before?
Btw, if you're curious, they are Kong Mk1's from Siege Engineering. Here's a current auction:

And here's a sound clip:

For now, I have a 10 gallon tank i got from Harbor Freight a while back for $27 so I'm just going to use it and refill it as needed. After the novelty wears off I'm sure i won't be blowing at every old lady that walks in front of my truck...
Once I get settled a little, I'm going to buy the 180 PSI kit from Siege. It's a little pricey but what you get for it is top notch. Once I get that kit I'll probably plumb the 10 gallon tank to it for extra reserve. Of course I'll have to use a 120psi regulator inline with it so the tin can HF tank doesn't explode...
Here's the Siege kit I'm talking about...

My neighbor got one of those a few months ago. I thought the novelty would wear out after a week or two. Nope. He still likes to go out and blast it several times a day, and at night, for no reason. I really appreciate him waking my kids up.

A guy that lives about 1/2 mile away from me got one a short time ago too and I can hear him blowing it all the time. Hell, he was a big inspiration in getting it.
Btw, I hope you don't live near me...

It was funny the first 10 times he did it. Now, it's akin to the pimple-faced Honda-Boy that rides around the neighborhood with his windows down and subwoofers thumping.
Using the horn in traffic to startle stupid motorists is one thing. Blasting it while you're riding through a neighborhood (for no reason) is another.

the reason you hear them used in neighborhoods is because it will make a cat jump through it's ass. you only have to do it once and you will find yourself on constant cat patrol...

Wonder how much the ticket is for blowing your horn unnecessarily. I wonder if they could get you for disturbing the peace or anything like that. I wouldn't want that thing under my hood. Sound waves and vibrations like that can't be good for electronics under the hood.

Come on man, cough it up. Whadda ya got?
If it's anything like loud stereo's, I think it's about a $150 fine if you get caught. That's reason enough right there to have it under the hood or way under the truck.

I had the real thing on my peterbult and it drained the air tanks very fast so if your going to use it better get a much bigger tank 10 gallons will eat it up with one pull of the horn mine would drop 30 pounds like it was nothing and almost lock up my air brakes and thats with a constent air compressor trying to keep up.

They have the Hammer 3 and the Hammer 4 in one class, then the Kong and Anvil in another which are both louder than the cheaper ones, then their top of the line is the one with 5 horns.
The Kong is a pretty bad ass sounding horn.
I haven't blown it yet because I didn't have the right fittings and adapters but I got them today. I'll get around to bench testing it tonight and installing it hopefully this weekend.

You just can't find good clean fun like this anymore...
You're speaking from experience aren't you?

police horn, something about the tone will just churn your guts hard. it must be more effective on cats/innocent bunnies...
I'm pretty sure these horns exceed every legal limit for every noise ordinance in town.

that would just depend on the jurisdiction. in texas there is a law on the books called "excessive/unecissary use of horn" you have to be a real dick to actually get a ticket for it though.
