Going to the Pick-a-part! What are some must-grab items?
I'm planning a road-trip to a pick-a-part this weekend. I'm excited like it's Christmas eve!
I have my own list of items to grab, but I'm looking for recommendations for parts that are worth keeping an eye out for. I'm still relatively new to wrenching, so I may now know a treasure if I see it.
Any expensive or rare spare parts that are worth grabbing to have on hand?

All of it?
People are always looking for the dash-mounted altimeter/inclinometer that came factory on some years. I have one on my '87, but it was the wrong color so the previous owner spray painted it to match the grey interior.
Door cards, shifter bezels, any interior parts really.
I have a broken grey driver side vent that I've been trying to find a replacement for with no luck.
Oh, and turbo 5-speeds (R151) if you're into pulling transmissions. People love those.
Any 8" Toyota electric locking differentials.
Good luck!

84-89 4runner interior trim that covers the top bolts. Full set without cracks/breaks you might ebay for $400 ...very fragile!
leather covered Sr5 shift knob, console without cracks. Good luck! Send photos of treasure.

The trim panels that cover the shell bolts securing it to the bed
The "B" pillar trim panels.
The SR5 speedo cluster
power mirrors.
intact steering column cover. both halves.
tailgate weather-stripping. The one going around the gate, along with the inner/outer on top of tailgate for the glass.
The dash vents. They're not all the same. The ones 86 and older are slightly different than 87 and newer.
As mentioned, the inclinometer
The Holy Grail would be a non-cracked dash pad.
Any of the rocker switches are nice to have, especially the ones in the center console. If they work, but covered in grime, that's ok. They're easy to take apart and clean(with some finesse)
The clock is a pretty easy to get and sell to help finance your trip
Any center console pieces, either the trim going around shifter, or the main piece between the seats would be a easy sell if in good condition.
You can often get enough parts to sell on ebay to cover the costs of the trip and the parts you decide to keep.
I grab every clean yellow chromate nut and bolt. In fact, I'll wander over to the newer Toyotas just to unzip as many nuts and bolts that I can. PYP doesn't put much, if any, value on those. Clean interior screws are nice, too.
I also take connectors. I don't care so much about the wires, but the plastic connectors come in handy. But I don't destroy harnesses unless they've already been compromised. You can reload new terminals and wires in connectors easily once you learn how to get the old ones out.
Get to PYP early. You'll be surprised how many people in line are targeting that same 4Runner. It'll get picked cleaner than our thanksgiving turkey with my 400 lb uncles and aunts on the attack. I have the PYP app on my phone and get alerts when 4Runners get brought out. I have my tool bag in the truck ready to go.

Man, you guys kick ass. Great tips. I had to postpone the trip to get stocked up for Mega lockdown 2020 part duex, but i'm gonna try to get out there in the next few weeks if the PYPs stay open. I'll def update with finds when I do.
@Jimkola damn, didn't know apps existed for that. I'll have to scope that out. Feel like you're letting me in on some inner circle secrets here!
