Getting my dash put back in......pics
Things are moving along, although somewhat slower than hoped for. Oh well, if I'm gonna have these toys, the honey-do-list has to be kept up on as well.
I painted the cover for the altimeter thingy, but it didn't quite match the dash. Oh well.
Got the cd player and equalizer in. Also put the dash speakers in along with door speakers. Will also have blaupunkts components in the rear with two small subs. Two amps to drive all this.
Having fun doing this. Man, I just really like this old girl.

Need to get the interior wrapped up so I can get my pole barn back!! Upgraded the instrument cluster (everything works perfectly!), added the altimeter, cd player and equalizer (although need to do something with the space under the equalizer. Maybe simply come up with a black plastic plate and stick in there. Not sure yet).

Switches for everything man. Switches to kill your subs, switches for floodlights, foglights, a switch to kill all your lights when you're caught on private property and you need to get out without being seen (don't ask), ya know.....switches. I made that little area into an MP3 player holder.

LOL it's starting to look like the cockpit of a small plane. I have been watching e-bay for one of those Inclineometers for a good price(been out bid 3 times)
Switches are cool,
This is my favorite style

I originally read about it in a european performance magazine. One of the cars they profiled that issue was a modded Saab 9000 CSE, same car my dad drives, so I read the whole article to give my dad some ideas. The light kill switch was a mod the car owner had done so that if he passed a cop going a bit too fast or was tearing around a parking lot he could kill all the lights and get away. He didn't explain how to do it, but I wanted to, so I set to work on my '86 Mazda hatchback that I had at the time as a rally car/ghetto beater. I just basically found the headlight and parking light wires, which run while the lights are on, and looped them around back to a switch I mounted on the center console down by my right thigh but kind of tucked away under the seat. It was still easily reachable, just not visible. This way I could keep my main headlight switch on so that I could still see the gauges and control them with the dimmer switch, but the lights could be killed. I never anticipated using it, but it came in handy a few times. I miss that car...

Wouldn't the headlights be important to see so as to avoid trees. poles etc. If you're worried about it just turn the lights off, nevermind the gauges. The brake lights will still come on, a switch for them would make more sense.

Yeah, original paint. It came from the state of Washington and then spent the last few years in your neck of the woods (Texas). Long drive back to Michigan in it. But I didn't want one with road salt damage. Also wanted original paint.

Gotta get to work. Have to pay for these toys somehow.
