Tube around the front, fender wells, tied into sliders, and rear bumper. Don't touch the top half with the exo if that's what you want and your getting an internal cage so it shouldn't matter about protecting you in a rollover. If you want your truck to be protected from a rollover, do an exo cage type thing around the mid section, around the windshield, and around the top of the back of your rig. Doesn't necessarily have to look like that red runner as pictured above, unless you want the maximum protection. Just make sure all of your angles are correct and it should be fine for little scrubs against trees and such. I like the looks of a full exo and plan to have one done on my truck!

I'm with the entrapment comment. If you get in a fairly hard accident the doors of modern vehicles are designed to jam in place, and with those bars welded on it'll be a pain in the ass to cut you out of there.
Yes they "welded" them on in the movie, but i doubt the movie ones were made of anything substantial.
+1 to the exo cage...
and i'm pretty sure unimog used to be its own vehicle manufacturing company. If i remember right they were started after WWII to make utility vehicles for germany (dual use farm truck/tractor things) I believe they became a part of mercedes later

Replace your side glass with lexan. Not bulletproof but un breakable!
Also, Unimog is a military vehicle design owned by Daimler. They are military vehicles, not specifically rally.

the UNIMOG was originally built by boehringer with a daimler motor just after WWII because at that point mercedes was not allowed to build all wheel drive vehicles, but after 4 years (1951) mercedes took over complete building of the vehicle.
the mog was not originally a military vehicle, it was built for agricultural use at first, this makes sense when you think about the fact that germany was not allowed to have a military immediately after WWII...
UNIMOG was never its own company, and it was only built under a different name for 4 years before mercedes took it back

Personally, I would do fender hoops and call it good. someday, I NEED to get around to doing the fronts...
IMHO, the bars over the window just give the bad guys an excuse to shoot you and deal with the car later, plus it draws a lot of attention.

wait.....You are actually going to do that? Are you serious? That looks rediculous. get sliders and tube bumpers and connect them with fender bars and then get an alarm.

Problem is structurally its not attached to anything in the benz pic. The fender exos are attached to the fenders!
Strength comes in welding to the frame and geometry. TC's is a good example..

yeah, he took that picture at the mall, then photochopped it onto that rock.
After all, those are street tires, and he has no lift. You can't wheel like that.
Common internet knowledge: You must have 39" swampers or bigger and a SAS to wheel in Moab. Period.

FWIW to the OP,
TC's "half" exo is AMAZING offroad. It does the job 100x over. I've seen it save his butt, (truck butt) several times, and have seen the scaring from Moab.
It also looks really good, and seems to not be so heavy as to sag the back of his truck.

Yeah, it works pretty well ... before the crawler, I got REALLY nervous about stalling the truck on Hell's Gate and took it a little too fast - about 3 mins in on this video

My friend, its time to stop getting your inspiration from movie vehicles, and start thinking about real world senerios, I highly doubt that hollywood Benzo could hold a flame to suitable undercarriage protection and exo-cage, just my opinion

dude you cant get out the windshield if its on fire.... it has plastic in the middle of two panes of glass... its ing hard to kick one out... you would definitly drown or burn. id say go with lexan, get an alarm and dont leave your in the truck! hell import that car from south africa with the flame throwers!

That video was awesome. Too bad about that one guy's truck, made me sad
How about lexan windows? How could you shape it to the curve of the stock glass?
