i have a 88 yota 4x4 with the v6 3.0L my truck has been doing the same thing, not wobbling but it makes a noise when i let of the gas or go to brake it sounds like a bad chain draggin and like a bad vibration feeling. and i just found out today my cv is bad in the driver side so that was my problem

To the original poster: I had bad front bearings and I did the "wobble check" by pushing/pulling on the tire while it was jacked up and never did get any indication they were bad. After doing that a few times I got tired of wondering (truck is a 1990 and i've only had it a year - previous owner did zero maint.) so I pulled it apart and found very worn bearings! They didn't make hardly any noise either which also suprised me.

I also agree with jtcessna, sounds similar to a bad CV joint, although I don't think that would cause a visual wobble, I think that is just a slightly oblong shaped tire and you haven't noticed it before.

My quick thougts any how...

Umm I definitely would have noticed it. And if it's just a slightly oblong shaped tire, where would the chain like sound be coming from on the drivers side, where the wheel is wobbling? I will check the bearings right now, and let you guys know.
Thanks for the help.

Well the bearings could be making noise or the CV shaft, or... I don't know mine makes noise everywhere!

You said you had your tire balance checked, do you have confidence in the shop that checked it? Of course if the tire were out of balance you should be able to feel it... hmm...

I'd certainly check out those bearings and check the CV boot, bad CVs will usually click too and you haven't hear that right?... hmm...

did the alignment mechanic not shake the front end down before he aligned it? or did he just take your money and set the toe. check the hub assembly. the bolts holding the rotor to the hub can come loose on the unfortunate occasion.

Umm my dad is vw mechanic, and he aligned it for me. But he knows a lot about cars. He checked it out before I toreit down to check the bearings. Turned out it was my new brake pads rattling! Looks like I forgot to put the anti rattle pin in. God silly mistake. Thanks for all the input everyone.

hey new to yotatech and toyotas too. i have a 86 4runner when i'm parked my tire is toed in some itmes i was wondering if that would have to do with the pitman arm and idler arm as well as bearings. i got a saftey inspection and they told me i had play in the idler arm and pitman arm and my bearings it also makes a sound like the tires are screeching when i go over bumbs on paved road.
