So one of the little tricks i learned, was to slide the tape upside down under the rubber sweeps then fold it over for a nice clean, no overspray ...

Looks good! I like the flares too.

Looks great! I'm planning on the same thing, painting in sections. It's a big job. Hopefully soon I'll be painting the front fenders.

One of my take-aways from my own paint experience is next time i will do all the bodywork first and then all the color and clear at once.
Mine dragged out too long because of weather, family time, problems with my spray gun. I will also try to rent a spray booth for the day from a shop.

we have a local paint shop that is AWESOME!!! very knowledgeable and helpful dudes. They carry shopline products and mixed the 033 toyota while for me, I'm doing base and clear.
$72 a quart for paint takes just over 1 quart to paint the whole rig.
Of course it requires hardner, reducer, and other things like masking tape ( I've used about 4 rolls) painters plastic from lowes
a roll of paper from lowes, sandpaper etc...
I had everything but the paint and some reducer. So it didn't cost me as much as if you were first starting.
if i didn't have what I needed, I would talk to a body shop willing to JUST primer and paint... it would save LOTs of $$$.
This is about everything I used
These are the products I'm using for interior parts, external plastic, and some metal parts... the engine black is glossy.
the others are soft matte finish. Napa red for my interior.

Maybe it's just me but I just painted my 90 sr5 pickup to get rid of the stripes. Didn't need much body work, just a few door dings and the paint was thin in spots. I'm so far liking it without stripes. 20 years ago I liked the stripes but seems I got over it. Your rig looks really good. You should be proud of the job you've done.

It's a 175k mile factory turbo so I'm trying to stay as close to original as possible without breaking the bank or going crazy over every little detail like a full on restoration. Thanks again... pics of your rig?

Because they're not painted on and I can change them.. I'm going to go with Matte black stripes instead of charcoal. It will tie all the black trim together with the stripes.
the 2nd option would be a napa red stripe kit to match the interior.
3rd option is the original gray stripes.
I'm also adding a AVS sunroof wind deflector...
