To make it even worse, you shut it down immediately. You should have let her idle on the side of the road and let the water pump/fan put in some work. By shutting her down, you're leaving your whole system full with near boiling water. No bueno. This can lead to a worse case scenario cracked block.
Uhh.... cracked blocks from overheating "usually" only occur when "crack"heads put Ice cold water in the radiator. Head and Intake Warping is more of a real threat. As for shut it down or let it run.... Shut it down, once its over heated the damage is done allow to cool slowly to avoid as much warpage as possible

okay, just finished the compression check. its 145-150psi across the cylinders with all the plugs out. so pretty even. im ruling OUT the head gasket. however.... i got a good look at the plugs. not so healthy looking. i put them in back in may and didnt drive much until september. heres a pic of them.

problem? or do those look almost normal for a few months?

replaced the spark plugs, just got the cheapest autozone special, theyre freaking MOTORCRAFT! FORD! i was pissed, but then i was like, eh its only for a few days, its ok. so i put em in, and, keeping in mind that it was run ONCE this morning for maybe 3 minutes, then just sat outside all day, started it. it started on the first crank! and does so now, what ive NEVER seen it do. i guess ford knows how to make spark plugs... im debating about leaving them in...

cant track my mileage until i replace the speedometer cable, lol. though i have noticed since i dropped my air pressure from 35 all around to 32 all around i have gotten WAY worse mileage. but just to get an opinion, do those spark plugs in the picture look okay, or do they look shot? and if shot, what would cause them to be shot within 5 months?

To me they all look a little wet, and the ones on the left look a little rusty, but if they worked they worked. Even if they worked, looking like that, i probably would have replaced them, just as you did.

basically ya. i replaced the hose, and now just waitin for my engine to dry (i sprayed the engine with water from the hose, and i dont want to fry anything) then im gonna go warm it up and go drivin and see if it starts overheating or leaking. if i could get the time off i would bro, but i cant get the time off. im not even sure if ill be able to get a week off for xmas and my bday (same week). but im deff. gonna fly out there sometime, you can show me some good wheelin spots out there. but yeah, the hose was definitely shot. there was a HUGE crack in it.
