First run. Maybe went a little too big :(

but oh well his answer wasn't really constructive either. just don't get angry or frustated and next time you put so much money, time and effort into an engine make sure every single component is in top shape.
good to hear you will work on it till it works properly!
not sure but I think a thousend miles is not enough of a brake in mileage?

You don't overlook ANYTHING on a proper rebuild man. My original thought was crank due to an IMPROPER rebuild and I was right. Someone who properly rebuilds an engine ALWAYS takes a look at the crank. And I go through pits and trenches like that all the time, you cannot convince me you weren't romping on that engine.

How many times did you hit those rod caps with the torque wrench at final torque? Plastigauge won't tell you if you have an out of round journal. It won't tell you if your line bore is straight either. And who PROPERLY rebuilds an engine and only replaces 3 out of 6 pistons anyway? That would have been the very first red flag to go up to check EVERYTHING. The second flag would have been the fact the engine has 170K plus miles on it.
Bottom line is that engine was NOT rebuilt properly. You might have that crank sent in to have redone, what about the block and heads? What are you doing with those? Are they still sitting in your garage? Or did you give that to the machine shop too?
