First run. Maybe went a little too big :(
I got my 1994 Toyota Pickup DLX finally finished. A solid 1500 on the new motor, which is a 3vze. Anyway, I went out today and played with some friends in the mud. I was the only one to attempt this pit and paid the price.
Long story short, it's making a terrible noise. When stuck in the pit the truck shut off and barely got it started back up. I'm thinking water got in the pan and I may have spun a bearing. The truck can't get to 3000 RPMs and is making what may be a knocking noise. Anyone else been in this situation please tell me what ended up happening. I will most likely be pulling the motor, again

Its got a 3vz...thats what happened lol
Yeah you most likely sucked up alot of water...maybe bent a rod...got water in the pan like you said...screwed something electrical up...it could be a number of things...but it sounds done for from your description.

You'd be surprised at how little it takes.....but the oil may have thinned out enough to where it spun a bearing. But if it died right away I dont see it...but if you sat there at limiter trying to get out I could. Sounds like a spun bearing....they usually sound more like a squeaking chirping type noise rather than a full on knock.

A few bigger trucks went through it but no one else wanted to. Didn't seem to deep at first till I made it bout 3/4 of the way through. The truck didn't instantly shut off. It was idling and I got out to get my chain and the idle got lower but not fast until it finally stalled I. But it did start right back up

Ya happined to me once. I heard gurgling and shut it off right away. Then winched it out with the motor off. No damage occurred.
Hopfully its somthin simple and cheap, but doesn't sound like it.

I'm curious.... How does the water from the mud pit thin out the oil if your intake was dry? What is the path of entry for the water to the oil?
I'm scratching my old head trying to figure this out.

I agree fully. Judging by the last pic, it looks as if you probably either had a fair amount of speed, or a good amount of weight on your skinny pedal, by the distance into that hole your truck is.

My friend has the same style gasket I am using, the cork style. He drove through a pit like this and it got through the gasket. I have heard nothing but bad things about this gasket and believe it may have helped with the problem. But the filter was dry and the same with the intake pipes.

Even if the intake was wet, I cannot see how the muddy water thins the oil.
Well, if the cork fails you have a point....use Toyota FIPG on the oil and more cork to fail.

OK well if water didn't get in there then you just had it pinned and something gave. Just cause the motor is rebuilt doesn't make it invisible but if no water got in the motor through the intake I have a hard time thinking that water had enough time to soak through a cork gasket.....get enough in the oil....spin a bearing at idle...then die. But hey....crazier things have happened right?

I dunno. But I treated this thing like a boat and didn't kill it. Lots deeper then this most of the time. Up to the headlights very often. Maybe you were going faster and had more splashing. But that shouldn't have killed your truck. Unless you have an open air box or somthin.
