I'm not hating, I guess I'm just "old school" and like it when companies come up with their own original products and designs

True, then you MUST dislike Trail Gear and toyota for that matter, afterall they did steal the design for the original landcruiser from a jeep...

I know what you're saying I'm just pointin some things out most people don't think of all the time

And no reason to hate on a company because they took a generic idea and made their own version....come to think of it, almost every company does that...it's like making your own slider and selling it, or bumper and selling it

SDORI.com

So long as one "gives credit where credit's due".

Such as, WHO was it that started the bronze idler arm bushing craze(now available from SDORI)?

He got the idea from ME.

I got the idea from custommachiningusa.com.

Share and share alike...I love the internet!

I do know an answer to that. No. Won't work.

I don't know what you've heard thus far. But if you're gonna put the diff in the way like this.

For a truss to fit you'll need to apply a bracket lift. Extending/lowering all 4 lower control arm mounting points. Bracket lift kits come with a similar truss that is designed to work with each particular type. Whether you could adapt a different truss to fit one is beyond me. As I'm not a fan of this type of lift.

So...Diff drop or IFS Truss. Choose 1 and only 1, sorry.

what about shortening the diff drop to like 1/2" -3/4" what ever you need to clear the truss?

my rocktek truss has about a 3/4" clearance from the diff at the front edge. i'd guess the maximum diff drop would be 1/2" and you'd probably have to make it yourself possibly out of aluminum or delrin or something like that. dunno if it's really worth it for 1/2" but it's possible. besides, how much does your diff get lowered with a 1" diff drop anyways-1/2-3/4"? it's not gonna be 1" since the front mount stays where it is and just gets pivoted. doesn't really seem that worth it unless you've got some crazy CV angles.

Can't you cut the brace where the diff casting comes down, then weld a short section of half inch flat bar in the area? Seems easy if you can weld, or have a friend and beer.

sure you could, but that would dramatically reduce the strength of it

Then why wouldnt you just make your own brace if you were to go through all that trouble

Wow it is amazing to see so many people have copied my original design. Before I thought of that design the ONLY thing out there was a piece of bent round tube. Still being offered by Total Chaos.

The strange thing is that every single truck out there is a different size and every one has to be custom sized or it won't work. How can you make a production run of that?

There are many more ideas i my head, I'll be fine.

Howzit Steve,
I'm in Peoria with an '87 4Runner that has the 4Crawler 1" diff drop kit. How much for a custom truss to accomodate my diff drop?

That would be impossible to make. You either use a diff drop or a truss but not both.

Figured as much. I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't one of the super-secret ideas in your head just waiting for a donor vehicle.

There are slightly different gaps between the lower a arms where the truss goes. Not a big difference, but just give him the measuement and he will make one just for you.
At least thats how it was with his old site. I dont know if he still does the custom width thing. He can chime in and clear it up.
