Exhaust System Constriction?

My Question Is Why Would The Folks Making These “Super Turbo Exhaust Systems”, Want To Constrict The Exhaust In The Middle Of The System?
I Just Finished The Installation Of A L.C. Engineering Header In My 89 Runner. It’s A Bit Pricey But (Sweet!) In The End. Install Was A Breeze, Fits Like A Glove. Even With A Broken Stud That Had To Be Extracted It Was Only A Couple Hour Job.
I Was Looking At Getting The Dynomax 17418 Super Turbo Exhaust Kit “For About $50 ($100 Plus Shipping Less The Rebate Of $75)” To Go Behind It. But After Doing My Homework I Discovered That The Kit Contains:
(1) 17768 Muffler
(1) 44591 Pipe
(1) 35489 Bracket
(1) 35431 Hanger
(1) 1¾" Clamp
(1) 2" Clamp
The 17768 Muffler Inlet Is Only 1-3/4” But The Outlet Is 2” And The 44591 Tail Pipe Is 2” All The Way Out. The Intermediate Pipe (Not Included) Is Only 1-3/4” Also.
I Was Taught Flow (Less Restriction) Is Good, Backpressure (Restriction) Was Bad. Bigger Exhaust, Bigger Carb, Bigger Bore Throttle Body, Bigger Cold Air Supply, Less Restricted Air Filter. Whatever It Takes To Burn More Fuel, Which Is More Air Right? Don’t You Want To Get The Spent Air\fuel Out So You Can Get More New Air\fuel Into The Combustion Chamber?
Why Would They Want To Constrict The Exhaust System In The Middle? Is There Any Performance Reason To Do This? Do They Know Something I Don’t?
The Pro Flow Exhaust System From L.C. Engineering Is 2-1/4” The Whole Way. Isn’t That Better? But Defiantly Out Of The Question At Another $400 On Top Of The Header.
My Header’s Collector Is 2-1/4”. My Magnaflo Catalytic Converter’s Inlet And Outlet Are Both 2” And The Same Thing With My Existing Muffler. I’m Going With 2" The Whole Way.
The 44591 Pipe Alone Is Only $25 Or $30. I Can Reuse The New\Old Aluminized Welded Flowmaster I Have And The Gut At The Muffler Shop Said He Would Make Me An 2” Intermediate Pipe And Weld The Muffler On For $30. Not Only Is It Much Cheaper But I Get 2” Exhaust All The Way To The Back.

Wel thats about the size of stock piping. With the header you are gaining flow, but cmon. Its a 22re, not exactly a big displacment motor..
Keep the small pipes and keep low end power, the 22re was never made for top end power.

Yeah 22re has the torque the early model 22r has pretty good top end i'm running a 2.5" on my early model, does good
