Exhaust for 550 bucks????
I just got quotes from several places in town to replace my cat, muffler & tailpipe for between 500-550...
I just priced a pacesetter cat-back & replacement cat for around 320 shipped. Does anyone have a better idea? Have any of you guys heard of prices that high?? The bends at both shops are not mandrel bent, eith, if that matters, but the pacesetter is.
I really do not need a loud ricer exhaust, just a new one.... Ugh...

Just got off the phone with the dealer, Toyota no longer stocks the factory replacement cat-back, which would have only cost 142.something....
There should be a cheaper alternative, both places quoted between 200-250 for the cat. I am looking at a direct-fit replacement from Summit for 91... I asked if I brought in an aftermarket cat & cat-back, what the install would be, and they both say between 300-400 bucks.
I would like to support local biz, but f-these guys! I can install a direct-fit cat & cat-back by myself with regular tools, right? My header is brand new so I need not worry about crusty bolts...

Pacesetter is garbage. At least the one I bought for my Dodge sucked. Rusted out in 2 years. And the Pacesetter does NOT come with a cat. You say the local guys are including the cat @ $500. Factor in the installation (and could could say the labour to build it) and the prices come a lot closer.
That said, it's still too much. Local shop here does most cat-backs for ~$300 CDN, or $400 w/a cat.

You can go to the local napa ,pep boys ,autozone ,schucks whatever you have local and get a universal cat and muffler plus exhaust pipe needed to do it and then get the exhaust bolt on U clamps to hold it in place till you can find someone to weld them together if you can't weld them yourself and save yourself 300 plus bucks

DO NOT get the Pacesetter header, Had one, It rusted out.. Get yourself two sticks of 2.25" exhaust pipe for about 20$ from summit, a 20$ cherry bomb turbo muffler that is also 2.25" and has offset inlet and outlets, weld the pipe to your header/manifold and then cut it, turn the muffler on its side so the exit is higher then the rear axle, and run it straight out the back with an echo tip. Sounds good, you could also use a offset in/out glasspack.. my whole exhaust cost me 45$, and I have a dynomax turbo muffler, 2.25" pipe, and a turn down..

I also had a system custom bent and welded on for less than $200 here including the muffler and chrome tip.
I'd say look around or do it yourself. That's robbery for a crappy pressure bent system.

I think I paid $125 to have my exhaust put together on my 82 truck.
$50 for a universal cat and $25 for a muffler.
So all together around $200. I couldn't imagine $500 what are they smoking?
