im actually thinking of buying a 3.4, and building it up in the garage. I want to put a built 3.4 in my truck rather than stock. basically what i want done is a supercharger, 7th injector, bigger pulleys, cams, headers, intake... and whatever else I can think of while the motor is out. and I'd like to think i have a long time to get all this done since my 3vz is still running at full compression and healthy as ever. plus adding them headers made it even healthier. so we'll see.

Either way, it's too small for the motor to breathe. I got 2.5" with a flowmaster, and high flow cat. It doesn't sound bad at all. Not ricey. I've got headers too.

Although, I think the 2.5 might be beyond what the motor needs. Probably won't hurt anything though.

I don't know how to post sound clips, or how to record them, so I guess we're SOL on that one.

get out of my head haha i want to do the same thing supercharger, headers, cam, intake, everything then drop her in when im ready. stock 3.4 goes but done up a little is just fun hehe. i would put in a heavy clutch and short throw shifter kit. posi rear for the street and mild wheeling. just havent decided on 2dr runner or ext cab???

What's the stock size for an 89 pickup? I'm seeing 2.5", and 2.25" and 2 1/8". So which is it? Does it vary by engine?

Lol same thing im doing... marlin crawler clutch with a LCE short throw shifter? hahah I wasn't gonna do the posi rear end... more like ARB locker hahaha. I wouldn't get a 2dr 4runner... seems less convinient compared to the 4dr... i'd go with an ext cab if thats what you're looking for.

haha well posi for my more street truck than wheeling, open diff would suck with 250hp or more out of a 3.4 supercharged lol and for mostly street posi will be great. as for my current truck it is going to get a detroit locker and will be sas'd as soon as have the cash and will be taken off the road for wheeling only. well thats the plan lol. i love the 2dr runners my friends got one and i want it sooooo bad and its not as bad as you think for getting in the back. damn i keep listening to your truck running aaaa i wont a v6!!
