Are vehicles with the 22rte readily available? Or would anyone with a full rte setup be interested in a trade for a 350 chevy with 300 miles?

Then laugh as you crawl right by them on the trail and get 15 more miles per gallon.

I had a tuff time finding a decent used 22RE. The good ones were priced way to high to bother with and the cheap ones were in need of rebuilds anyway. That's why I decided just to rebuild it myself.

I don't know what you have into your 350 but if it is built, you should be able to get more than enough for it to do a really nice rebuild job on a 22RE. You may even get enough to buy a long block. There is a place locally here that sells them for a little over $1600. That includes a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty. The warrenty even includes $40/hr labor to swap it if something happens. Plus they drop ship right to your house.

I would say go for a 1KZ-TE... But they run about $4000-$5000.

Probably the best option is a 7/5M-GE swap.

Hey take a look here, this sounds to me like a great engine, if you're willing to make the investment....

I know what is involved in doing this type of swap (the 350) , and I have a spare Downey Offroad TH350 tranny to Toyota transfer case adapter that I may willing to part with for pretty cheap.. Let me know..
