Engine running issues
So after seaching long and hard for the answer to my problem i havnt had any luck so i have resorted to starting a new thread but here is my problem so i swaped a 22re for a 22re i finaly got the engine in to find it has a blown hg so i replaced it, when i got the head shaved somthing happend and the valves on piston 4 ended up sticking open. So i got my other head rebuilt and then back in. Here is the problem there is no power it will do 0-60 in like 20 min. no joke but it back fires out the intake and it only has a little guts at like 1/10th throttle.
So it does need to be timed, my dad was having me pull off the gas tank to clean it out (because its been sitting for a couple years)
idk im tired of fiddleing around with it and not getting any where so any opinions would be great sorry for the long read but idk maby u can see where i went wrong in all of it
thanks in advance

oh ya i forgot to ask if it would have to do with the maf sensor, and or the fuel lines being cloged under preasured etc. and if theres somthing i can just rinse the gas tank with to clean it out using the drain plug?

Grab a Factory Service Manual and walk through the various engine sections. Time it properly, test and adjust the Throttle Position Sensor, test the AFM, etc. Basically the approach you want to take is that you want to assume every part is bad until you can test it and prove to yourself that it is OK. I had to do this when I rebuilt my 22RE, ran poorly and I went over things several times. Found valves out of adjustment but the biggest issue was a bolt on the EGR valve had backed out and caused a huge vacuum leak, Buddy saw that right away and I had looked at it dozens of times and missed the problem. But yours sounds like it might be an air leak in the intake plumbing between the air filter and TB.

Im no expert but I battled somthing similer in my subaru.
Things you MUST know are in working order before any internet can help.
-What is compression on all cylinders? If compression is bad is it rings or valves?
-Are you getting fuel? Correct pressure? On all 4 Cyl's?
-What do the plugs look like? New? If used replace for new so you can note the color once you finally get it running (to test lean or rich condition) Try pulling a plug while its running and see if it changes. If you pull one and it doesnt change, thats your bad/ affected cyl.
-Are you getting correct A/F ratio? If you have fuel, What about Air? Any vaccuum leaks?
Usual Runability questions
-Hows your timing?
-How tight is your timing chain? A tooth off?
-Is it missing?
-Is it affected at idle or under load?
-What mods are done?
