Engine quits when put in D or 4L
Hello fellas...
I am baffled by this one. 1992 4Runner V6, automatic, 4WD
Engine starts with no issues. When I shift to “D” engine quits instantly, injectors stay engaged. Go back to “P” I can get the engine started but I can tell fuel was dumping in.
Same exact scenario happens again...shifter in “P” if I shift the transfer case into 4L....engine quits instantly.
I could not find a thread on this, so forgive me if this has been ask or discussed before.
What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance.

What about other gears? Reverse do any better? sounds like a load issue. Fuel pump is triggered by AFM so when it dies it should also kill the pump as a safety measure not to flood the engine.
