Can someone explain how to take the EGR valve apart to clean the filters. The cap looks like it might pry off, but I rather be sure before trying. Thanks

The EGR valve doesn't have any filters in it. The EGR vacuum modulator does, which does require opening the unit. It's not something I have messed with, yet. I have taken apart my EGR valve, just to see the inner workings. Not something I'd recommend, the top is crimped on with some sort of press that I don't have. Easy to get apart, tough to get back together. You can clean the EGR valve with a solvent bath. Make sure it is totally dry when your done.
Here's the 93 fsm pages for the EGR.
