easy t-bar adjustmeny project... NOT

so i read up on the info, searched it all, read the articles, yada yada yada, figured it would be nice and easy. its a '94 pu, so there shouldnt be a locknut to worry about, and i should be able to get er done in no time flat. should should should. except for the fact theres a lock nut on my adjustment bolt... sooo, it wont get done today most likely, cause it jut started to rain and lightning and such, and while i enjoy danger, i kinda like to have at least 90-10 odds of being called a moron. messin around with a big metal truck, with a big metal jack, and a bunch of nice metal tools... im callin myself a moron even thinkin about it.

anyways, heres the part that u actually want to read. if i somehow get that stinkin locknut off, do they have to go back on? and if they do, is it possible to upgrade to one without the locknut? should be like 15 bucks all together at the dealership eh? please tell me theres a nice easy solution. hehehe.

Because 2WD's have feelings too, and they get envious of the big 4WD's that pick on them on the playground after school.

what, u afriad my "lil 2wd" could own u thru the mud or somethin? u think 4wd's are the only vehicles capable of gettin off the road? srsly, some people just piss me off. its my truck. why ask why im doing something? i asked for insight, not a bunch of people try to put down my ideas.

not to mention, i never said i was lifting it, i said adjustment, so technically i could be lowering it. maybe u morons should leave well alone things u dont know about. just cause u have something to say about it doesnt mean u need to post.

ps, thanks roco, kinda. lol.

edit- and i pick on the 4wds. its 90% driver guys. always remember that. else u'll get owned by some old guy in a vw bug or somethin. yea.

Whoa... Chill.

I think you took both of our comments completely out of context.

Corbit was asking why would you lift a 2wd, and I asked why it would matter whether it's 2wd or 4wd.

By the way, I wouldn't run around here calling people morons for asking questions. It also comes with the territory that you would be lifting it since this is an off road forum.

I drive a 2wd myself.

No one is picking on your or putting you down.

Take a midol and relax.

In the article it says...

the nut and bolt as a set for about $6 at any Toyota dealer.
So I am sure you can replace it with new hardware.

i do hope so. i dont rly wanna take the chance of just removing the locknut and leaving it off. loosing my torsion bars and whatever else decides to come loose doesnt sound appealing. lol. now if only this turns out to be the $15 half hour job is wants so badly to be.

Well, see here's the deal. You have 90-10 odds of breaking the adjusting bolt when you try to adjust the bars, so you're gonna need new hardware anyways...

buy the hardware before even getting under the truck. I broke the adjusting bold on my p/u, I decided to put new t-bars on my truck during a weekend home from college. Long story short I had to take the greyhound back to school and back out to my parents the next weekend to finish the job.

The guy who sat next to me on the greyhound smelled pretty bad...so I cursed the adjusting bolts

welllll.... if i happen to bust up an adjusting bolt it'll give me an excuse to hop in my padres maxima and test out the new speakers some more. hehehe. i dont have to worry much about being vehicle-less. but i will set aside the cash to buy the bolts and whatnot just in case.

brush off the dirt covering the thread, spray the hell of PB Blast, drive it for couple days, soak them with PB again, then do the adjustment. i've had no problem this way.

the PO of my 4Runner was from colorado, the bolts have rust spot all over, but still in good shape. i cleaned them with a small wire brush which i stole from my golfer friends. patience is the key.
