I tried pushing it up from both inside and outside. I will try again tomorrow at some point.
Yeah, I'll probably try something like that with the screw, but for now I was just hoping to get it back together.
Thanks for all the help!

You say you tried to push it up... If I remember correctly, you have to pull the bottom of the pawls towards you when looking into the end of the tube (they pivot up towards the rear of the vehicle... you don't push the bottom of the pawls towards the front of the vehicle.) It's been a few months since I've had mine out, but I think that's right.

no i've pushed both directions. the one closest to the driver will move. the other one wont.
I've pushed it from the drivers side of the tube, as well as putting the screwdriver in from under the dash and pushing it towards the driver.
Like I said. Ill be trying it again at some point today

With that pin broken, your parking brake light will never shut off... even though the brake handle is fully pushed in. Mine was broken off when I bought my '93. Here's what I did:
I punched out the broken parking brake switch pin from the parking brake handle shaft (this is easy to do when it is removed from the truck) , tapped the hole to M6 x 1 (the hole size is perfect to do this), and installed a M6 x 1 (x 30mm, I think) bolt with blue loctite (after the handle is re-installed in the vehicle). It has worked perfectly since I did it 6 months ago.

I can try to post some pics up if I get a chance, but this week's evenings are pretty busy. It's really as simple as it sounds... remove the e-brake handle, use a punch to get rid of the broken piece of pin (if it's still in the hole), run a M6x1 thread in the hole, re-install the e-brake handle, then insert the bolt with some blue loctite.

I GOT IT!
Basically I removed the trim panel to have a better view. the pawl farthest from the driver needs to be pushed towards the driver. I pushed it up with a screwdriver in my right hand, and held it up with my left middle finger. you then push the screwdriver in from the drivers end, and push the pawl towards the engine, and hold that pawl up with your left index finger, while still holding up the other one with your left middle.
QUICKLY SLIDE THE HANDLE IN BEFORE YOU DROP ONE OF THE PAWLS AND YOU'RE DONE! then just get the cable end into the handle, and put the pin back in.
I NOW HAVE A FULLY FUNCTIONING PARKING BRAKE! thanks to the couple people that helped!
