Downey headers and build plans
Hi all, my poor beastie has been patiently waiting on love for months. Just assembled and installed 'new' leaf spring packs and now in the process of working through the bushings--which sucks...though setting things on fire is always a good time.
First thing: I have a set of Downey ceramic-coated headers for the 3.0 that have been laying around for a year or two collecting dust. Got em for $50 off of craigslist without connectors. Since I need to do a valve job, I thought that maybe I should install them. But looking through related YT threads, the job seems like a real serious PITA. Is it worth it?
--no, I am not going spend $$$$ for a 3.4 or other engine swap. Not until the 3.0 is absolute, carbonized toast--
Second: the truck has to pass safety inspection to earn 'restored' title status, and that includes (I think? Anyone else know?) making sure she's properly aligned. I can't do that without new bushings in the front. However, I'm pretty sold on doing a SAS. Anyone tried to sell their good-condition IFS frontend? Is there a market??

If your in need of a head job

This is the way to go, then you can put on your headers.
Yes it is a pain in the ass, but with rebuilt heads new gaskets. The 3.0 should last a little longer.
also cool
