double din in 89 ext cab truck?
Mine has the single din but has the storage tray under it. Can this be removed and have enough space for a double din to fit perfect? Anyone have any pic or info. it would be great.

Like this? Ignore the crappy quality video...it's a VERY clean sounding head unit. Can't get that one in the US; sold only in Japan back in the mid 90s. I've never found it's equal. It opens completely to reveal an internal cassette loader, no issues with the shifter.

i have a pioneer 4200 in mine. fits perfectly. if its motorized you should probably do some slight filing to the bottom lip just to make sure.
i have a soundstreem full screen that was motorized and it caught the bottom a little bit. i didnt have the same problem with the pioneer because it was already filed a little.
sorry no pics!

oh yeah and just take the brackets off and screw them onto the new radio. pretty sure they will only go on one way.
well the may go on two ways but the others are going to be so screwed up and obviously wrong that its not even an isue

That Kenwood slid right in & has 4 bolts that hold it in place. If I remember correctly, it fit directly in.

TNR, I don't think I've ever heard Jazz (or whatever that is) blasted threw two 10"s, lol
the double din options are nice. if you've got ~$500 you can drop on one, you get get a built in Garmin GPS, bluetooth phone sync, DVD player, everything!

I have to agree, there's no point to it, but it's something you don't see everyday, that screen would probably bust the first big hole I hit anyway, still might do one, depending on how much one of these double din things cost, is that just a fancy word for radio with a tv built in? Anyway, and where you can get them?

Double DIN is twice the stock radio HEIGHT, DIN = Deutsches Institut für Normung (German Institute for Standardization). It's an international standard.
Most of the major brands sell them. Don't just buy one because it will fit; get the best you can for the $$$. I generally buy GREAT items used, but I bought this new in 1997 for half the retail price of $995.00. It KICKS @$$.

In the future I'd like to upgrade to a better deck, though my kenwood does pretty good, and i'd like to replace the 8s and 6.5s wit a pair of 12 or 15 inch subs, a couple 6 .5 rounds, and 4 new tweeters all name brand, and get a better pair of 4 rounds for under the dash, though the Memphis sound good. I'd also like too get my new door panels made, I'm trying to fit two 6 1/2 inch mid-full range speakers in each door, along with another pair of tweeters, one per door and a junk pocket, once again all name
brand.
I think I'm gonna have to buy a big amp as well...
