Does The Po Love Your Truck????

I will admit my runner must have something going for it. Last monday I was driving my old civic, and got a speeding ticket for going 82 in a 70(highway patrol). And then the next day I got pulled over(city cop) for 63 in a 55 while cruising into town. Well I had invalid plates, expired inspection, and the speeding of course and he just let me off with a warning. The 4runner god definently was on my side.

well, from the looks of all the posts ... i would conclude that the PO loving your truck, for real reasons or just to be bastards, is luck of the draw. Sucks to have been dealt the short end of the stick.

Well... When you drive a big truck that's painted bright Kawasaki green, you tend to draw more attention than an 18 wheeler. Whenever I go out of town where I aint know the police, I always get pulled over. It's usually just the redneck cops who just wanna talk, but still!

My DD is a yellow '01 frontier crew cab and I have gotten pulled over a bunch. I don't speed in that truck b/c the po-pos look for things to pull me over. I drive like a total @$$ in the 4runner and have never even gotten a second look from the bacon. I think it has more to do with the amount of attention that your truck draws than how you drive.

I drove around for months with only a short pipe comming off my cat, never got a glance from a copper.
Most of the toyota pickups here that are stockish are driven by middleaged men.
Wonder if I will get more attention with the lift and new rims..

I dont know about Ya'll, but i just dont like cops all the way around. Used to support officers/cops when i was younger but then as i got older and started seeing what goes on.....
So just went to court for a ticket (traveling wrong way in a turn Lane) but it was really bogus--there were turn arrows in both directions. cop said i drove 200 yards in the turn lane--no way. I saw the trap as soon as i pulled into the store parking lot. anyways makes a long story short--the cop lied his a$$ off about seeing me do it (it was the two other cops in the driveway parking lot--constitutional law and confronting ones accuser??) and made up a couple other bogus points. Bam, judge ruled in his favor.
Then in cali i got a really bogus combo fine of almost a 1K. cop lied again and i also got thrown in Jail for contempt of court.
Just seems everyday i care less and less for cops. Have they forgotten what its like to get tickets and not be above the law (of course they have). With me it is just a given that i will get a ticket every 2 to 3 years--never been let off of a single one--even when being nice.

I've found it varries a lot. the worst i've seen in the northeast are the masshole cops. on i-95, and i-90 they just drive about 100 in the left lane, and expect everyone to get out of their way.
oh and you gotta love the staties and their hats.

some cops can be nice, and i dont rly mind the fact that they are out there. yea, every once in a while... but if they catch me drivin stupid, yell at me, just dont tell my parents eh? lol. i think cops should only be allowed to pull over honda civics, chevy camaros, and well, other hondas. leave my yota alone.

Good point--go after the people that are grossly violating the law. not the normal guy who doesnt have the whole 1000 pages of taffic code memorized. Common sense--i thought we were born with it?
I will admit it when i am wrong and take my come-upeds like man but little petty things annoy the hell out of me. Going to start carrying a camera everywhere i go LOL.

I've got a written warning for my lift once, and one of those orange "move this p.o.s. in 24 hours" warning stickers on my side window when it was parked on the street in front of my house after we just moved in. I guess the town cop (I live in a small town of about 1500) took it upon himself to determine that my truck didn't run and needed to be moved. I wanted to tell him it may not look all that pretty, but it probably runs better than his cruiser even though it's about 15 years older

the other thing i notice switching back and forth from living in a big county in ny to a middle of nowhere area in maine is that the cops are just everywhere in ny. It feels really oppressive here in ny.

IE angled skidplate, or just remove anything that adds unneeded weight.
My tailgates gone.

the ones round here are so stupid
one night they were looking for a red ranger with a smily sticker on the side.
I drive a red 88 4runner with black top and a marlin crawler sticker on side.
I sopposedly was in a restricted area, but there were no signs, no gate, nothing.
heard it on the scanner. they even followed me for half a minute then turned off
