Does my 3.0 sound like it is ticking unusually loud to you? (Video)
Hi guys, I picked up this 1990 a year ago with 232,000 miles on it and virtually no maintenance records from the previous owner. I drove it for about 6 months, then set out to replace the timing belt and adjust the valves. Life got in the way for a while, but I finally have it all back together with all valves adjusted, new timing belt / water pump / tensioners, and new plugs. Started right up and seems to run just fine, but it sounds to me like it is ticking a bit loudly at idle. I did not drive it long enough to really memorize what the motor sounded like before jumping into the valve job, so I am not sure if it sounds normal or not. I need some trained ears to take a listen to see if I am just being paranoid or if the motor is being unusually noisy.
My GoPro kind of bounces back and forth between audio settings trying to adjust for wind noise from the radiator fan, apologies. The clearest audio of the ticking is right about 00:45. The motor also seems to be repeatedly skipping a beat at idle, you can hear it best from the exhaust.
