i asked a few local machine shops about porting the head. they wanted 300 plus any extra labor of teardown and assembly. i was looking at 500 plus. for that money i could buy teds head and install it or just experiment with my spare head. at this point im still in a research stage but i will probaly try it before long. i will keep you posted. any other ideas??

the 20/22r hybrid would be awesome to do. the problem is i have an 87 block and from my reading, it is impossible to get the timing chain to fit because of the deck heitgh difference in the post 85 block. unless someone has figured out a way to do this??

An 80-84 block is easier to find... IMO... (oops, 80-84)

You can go to the library and find this stuff- I did and I bought some books as well. It's easier to find info on the domestic's- it's tough to find specific info on the exact type of head you are working on, every head has it's own choke points and area's of improvement- Chevy ports and chambers aren't going to do you alot of good on Toyota specific heads. Be carefull not to port for 'racing'.
