Disconnecting and removing "Clutch Start Cancel" button
Hey there, I have a standard 1995 4Runner and I'm trying to replace the lights behind my instrument panel (oil, temp, RPM, speed, battery, fuel). I had to take my driver side dash apart to get there, but I can't seem to be able to disconnect my "Clutch Start Cancel" button? I got everything else disconnected and removed except for that dang button. It doesn't seem to have any squeeze tabs behind it to remove it like the other wired electronics, and it's the only thing left for me to do in order to completely remove the paneling so I can pull out my instrument panel and replace the lights behind it! ..or at least I hope so? Feel free to forward some tips about replacing the lights behind the instrument panel as well!
Cheers,
Fraze.
Here's the button I'm referring too if you're unfamiliar!

You might be able to reach around the underside and disconnect the wires from the switch. I know I've had mine out before, but that was a couple years ago. Take a break and then try it again. Usually works for me.

I tried, but couldn't trace them them back into the abyss.. it seems like it should have a squeeze tab on it? I don't understand why it's not like every other wired instrument I had to disconnect?

I popped mine with a pocket knife. The wires don't allow it to come very far out on mine. Don't know why. Had to pop out out a bit and get the plug off with a flathead screw driver. Maybe that's just my truck though.

Yeah, there's definitely not a lot of play with those short wires. So, you can disconnect the wires from the back of the "clutch start cancel" button by prying at the plug I guess..? It just doesn't make sense why it wouldn't have a squeeze tab like everything else that is connected to wires? There is squeeze tabs so that you can push the button through the front of the panelling, but that doesn't help me much..

Like I said I don't know if it's all or just mine but the wires are super short and even once you get the plug out there wasn't enough wire to pull it enough and reach the plug to disconnect the wires. Getting it back together was fun too. Hopefully yours are longer.
