lol rediculous . thanks for the info deathcougar! well i guess im holding off on buying an 88 3.0 for 400 bucks. damnit. anyone have a 3.0 for sale near central b.c.? jay? im having no luck here unless i want to swap to a 22re or buy a 1200 long block from the autowreckers.

low ohm vs high ohm injectors.
water distribution block is different on the back, but that also has to do with what options you have.
motor mounts are different
disturber caps are different
timing belt tensioners and therefore fan pulley bracket.
some do and dont have oil coolers on the side.

anyone else have any imput on this difference between the 88 3vz or the 95 3vz-e???
i just bought a 88 model motor and really need to know for sure before i even start trying to swap the motor in my 95 if it will strait bolt up or not.
has anyone put a 88 model in their other year model truck/4runner?

thanks for the reply DeathCougar, thats all i was really lookin for. i read the whole thread before and seen what the differences were but i just was looking for you or someone else to reply with the same facts. I'm thinkin im going to just try to sell the motor, seems like too much of a headache for something that could have been just a direct replacement. wish i woulda seen this thread before buying the motor.

mid 1990 model year production, they quit using the asbestos head gaskets. the mid 90 trucks and older are quite a bit more reliable. I have two, both with their factory head gaskets, that have 215k miles on, but yet the failed head gasket used later on would blow sometimes before the 100k mark.
as far as which v6's were more prone to failure after mid 1990, I am not sure haha.

Not entirely true i had an 88 4runner v6 and it blew a head gasket ay 289,000 Miles, which is wow but yea they do blow em.
