Defroster related to A/C Compressor?
When I bought my truck, the A/C system wasn't working - so I'm thinking of removing the compressor, just cause.. But if I remember right, the compressor kicks on when you turn on the defroster? Is that correct?
I don't plan on fixing the a/c for awhile, just thought it might free up some space for starter work later on. Ideas?

yes when its on defrost it will kick on to help pull moister out of the inside, but if u are planning on fixing it at any time i would not pull it out cause air and moister getting into the system and having to replace other items then maybe a pump or where its leaking from that cause it not to work. it will dry out seals and could cause other problems from having the system open(rust)

You dont need to worry about rust inside of your A/C system, the A/C system is made up of aluminum which does not rust, the moisture inside of an A/C system mixes with the refrigerant and oils and makes a corrosive acid and sludge that ruins a system.
The A/C does come on with the defrost as stated by Justin to remove the moisture in the air inside your truck, your defrost will still work without A/C, it will just take a little longer. Besides you live in Arizona, who wouldn't want A/C there.
