Cruise Control Flashing 5 times 1990 4Runner
#2
bad cruise control chip maybe, does it do it all the time?
i tried and this showed up: 5 blinks during cruise control driving indicates a malfunction in the "speed sensor or actuator, etc" This indicates that a code (or more than one code) has been stored in the DTC memory
even though your check engine may not be on, pull the codes and see what shows up
personally i hate cruise control

Well, I LOVE cruise control. YMMV.
You should always start with The Good Book: http://web.archive.org/web/201102052...10cruiseco.pdf
"If while driving with the cruise control on, the system is canceled by a malfunction in either the actuator, speed sensor or cruise control switch circuit, the cruise control indicator light ”CRUISE” will blink 5 times."
Run the diagnostics (in The Good Book). It should point you right to your problem.
